Some people scream for ice cream. Some people scream in mysteries and thrillers. Some people do both, and with this easy recipe for hot fudge sauce and a copy of Fatal Fudge Swirl by Meri Allen, you can too.
Hot
Fudge Sauce
Makes a shy 2 cups
Ingredients
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened
cocoa powder
6 tablespoons
unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 ounces
unsweetened baker’s chocolate, chopped
Directions
Combine milk,
sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir slowly until
mixture begins to simmer.
Stir in cocoa
powder until smooth. Add butter and vanilla. Stir slowly until butter is
melted.
Add baker’s
chocolate. Stir slowly until melted.
Serve warm over your choice of ice cream while reading Fatal Fudge Swirl, book 3 in Meri Allen’s Ice Cream Shop Mystery series.
Fatal Fudge Swirl is a delicious three scoop
confection: Scoop 1) Residents of Penniman, Connecticut, are preparing for
their weekend-long Halloween Happenings celebration. Scoop 2) Excitement is
buzzing because a romantic comedy is being filmed on the town green. Scoop 3) A
domineering socialite is planning her lavish Halloween-themed wedding—and she ends
up dead. Can Riley Rhodes, manager of the Udderly Delicious Ice Cream Shop (and
former CIA librarian and amateur sleuth), unmask the murderer? You might need
another bowl of ice cream while you keep reading the book to find out.
Store the fudge
sauce in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze it for up to three months.
Reheat the sauce by
zapping it for 15 second increments in the microwave, stirring between zaps to
prevent burning, until heated through.
Yum! We're definitely having ice cream tonight.

DeleteYum - hot fudge for breakfast - the sacrifices I make for my art :). Loved Fatal Fudge Swirl - the perfect accompaniment to the wonderful fudge sundae.
ReplyDeleteThe sauce would be great on waffles or pancakes. Or muffins. Scones, too. In coffee?
DeleteThere goes any hope of staying on my diet.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we don't buy or make ice cream very often.
DeleteLooks like a winner!
ReplyDeleteIt's PDG - pretty darn good.

DeleteOn my way to Sunday brunch. Now I'll have to see what kind of sundae they're serving! Definitely something with fudge sauce.
