You also sound like an excellent marketer--and we all need to be that nowadays. I remember it all quite well (especially getting picked last in gym class....I drew upon that for a great mind control scene in Dark Before Dawn revolving around girls who get made fun of in gym class!) but I feel very removed from it now.

I make a lot of to-do lists to get things done and I take a compulsive pleasure in checking things off the list!Stacy Jubahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311136790112753008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993649290245605005.post-62405105052852593372011-01-26T11:02:23.006-05:002011-01-26T11:02:23.006-05:00Thanks, E.B., and for the great interview question...Thanks, E.B., and for the great interview questions. Yes, as a tie-in to Sink or Swim, I'm hosting a mock online season of the show on my blog. It's basically a six-question guest blog opportunity with a lot of spin. Authors answer the questions in the voice of one of their characters and then are encouraged to share the link with their networks and invite commenters. The 3 posts that draw in the most unique commenters at the end of the year will be named the winners of the online version of Sink or Swim, and those authors will get some extra publicity. But it's a very friendly competition so everyone else who wasn't in the Top 3 will be named a Fan Favorite.

These are the guidelines if any authors are interested: http://stacyjuba.com/blog/2011/01/12/author-promo-opp-literary-characters-wanted-for-mock-sink-or-swim-reality-show/ If you go to my blog, we also have our first contestant "competing" this week - Chris Redding's Incendiary character Chelsea James and they are also giving away a PDF of the romantic suspense book The Drinking Game to one commenter.Stacy Jubahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311136790112753008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993649290245605005.post-29994687680370573712011-01-26T11:01:01.086-05:002011-01-26T11:01:01.086-05:00Wow, Stacy, you are into everything. It took me 17 years to get a second book published after Face-Off, and for part of that time, I had an agent circulating various manuscripts. Never again does an author have to wait 17 years to get their books out there. There are some wonderful small presses such as Mainly Murder Press that you can submit to directly without an agent.

And if you feel you've run out of places to submit a manuscript and/or you're comfortable being an entrepreneur, then you can always self-publish in e-book format and use a company like Createspace to print a paperback version. The print version would be much harder to sell to buyers without having a large or small press behind you to help with the marketing, but authors can do quite well with selling ebooks.Stacy Jubahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311136790112753008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993649290245605005.post-76046934982911375862011-01-26T10:47:37.116-05:002011-01-26T10:47:37.116-05:00Stacy is not only creatively prolific, but quite t...Stacy is not only creatively prolific, but quite the creative marketer as well. I admire the hook you used in Sink or Swim, which is a great way to market since so many people are into reality based shows. That hook only provides a basis for the murder mystery.

If any of you go to Stacy's website, you'll see that she's staging her own reality shows for promoting the novel.

Thanks for the interview Stacy. And remember everyone--tagging at Amazon improves an author's book being found during searches--which increases sales. Please tag and review Amazon authors' books!E. B. Thank you for the interesting and informative guest blog. I'm guessing you're the forerunner of what writing and publishing will be like in the future for what used to be midlist authors. Small presses seem more able to select on the basis of what they like and believe in rather than what is branded and/or destined for the bestseller lists.Pauline Alldredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00847008019331163905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993649290245605005.post-58761991970596559972011-01-26T10:15:33.593-05:002011-01-26T10:15:33.593-05:00Thanks, Warren! I won in one of the last years it was sponsored, and they published the book.

That seems like a long time ago! But, I think today's young people would still relate to the book, especially if I add a few things to it such as mention of cell phones, texting etc. I plan to reissue it in the future, and I also have an unpublished sequel in my drawer called Offsides, which I'll be taking a look at.Stacy Jubahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00311136790112753008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-993649290245605005.post-40843100662178106672011-01-26T08:09:30.050-05:002011-01-26T08:09:30.050-05:00Published at age eighteen?
