David B Schlosser suggested a writing exercise. He wrote that Nelson Algren born in 3/28/ 09 had three rules for living. :
Never play cards with a man named Doc.
Never eat at a place named Mom’s.
Never sleep with a woman whose troubles are worse than your own.
Schlosser suggested that you write the rules for living of your protagonist. With all the hard work already done, I had an idea. Turn the exercise into a contest. Here it is. Put up the rules for living of your protagonist on this blog and add a link to where readers can buy your book. Everyone who posts wins! I stole the idea first so I get to post first.
In Murder Manhattan Style available at http://www.warrenbull.com/ The hero of the short story, “The Wrong Man,” has the following rules for living:
Don’t bend over in the shower just because someone asks you to pick up the soap.
If you’re not cheating, you’re not really trying to win.
Spend your money on women and drink: don’t waste it.
Okay, it’s your turn now.
