Haven't we met Somewhere Before?

“Haven’t we met somewhere before?” I asked.

“No, this is my very first time in this place.”

“Not here,” I said. “Sometime ago, back when you were a little bit green and unsophisticated.”

“Why, sir. Whatever do you mean?”

“Oh, yes,” I said. “I’d remember you anywhere. You have a very nicely turned phrase in the third paragraph. The early plot twist is sweet.”

“You are so kind.”

“Not at all,” I said with a smile. “Your author untangled a subplot and removed a lot of needless verbiage. You always had charm. Now you read great.”

“Can I tell you something? There were times when I thought I’d never get published.”

“And yet here you are. It was lovely reading you again.”

“When you see my author at critique group, will you say you read me here?”

“It will be my pleasure.”

  1. You are so warped, Warren. Wonder if that's a trait of award nominated writers. Especially weird considering that the picture you chose--I think--is of the actress playing the character "Meadow" from the "Sopranos!" Just can't get away from murder and mayhem can you?

  3. Gotta love those voices. It's what is making you the writer you are. Of course, it's also true of schizophrenics, too, isn't it????

  7. Look in the mirror, Warren. Talk. You could be you, but then maybe...not.
